YOU AND YOUR HORSE
Something Between You Feels Off – But You Can’t Quite Name It.
So, let’s talk about what’s really happening between you and your horse.
Maybe she’s nervous. Maybe she goes along with everything but doesn’t seem happy. Maybe she’s slowly shutting down.

You Know Something Isn’t Quite Right. It Just Doesn’t Always Look Dramatic.
Sometimes it’s obvious – she startles, she leaves, and suddenly it’s as if you’re not even there.
But often it’s quieter than that. She does everything you ask, and yet something feels absent, as if she’s just going through the motions. Or she’s slowly becoming slower, flatter, less there than she used to be. Or the two of you keep arriving at the same stuck place, again and again, and you can’t work out why.
You’ve watched the videos. You may know more theory than anyone at your barn. But none of it quite explains this – the thing that only happens between you and your horse.
WHAT’S REALLY GOING ON
When Something Feels Off, It’s Usually One of Three Things.
It's About Her Past
Your horse went through something that has nothing to do with you, maybe she was mistreated or simply never allowed to express herself – and it’s showing up in how she meets the world. Here, we look at what she needs from you now to feel safe again.
You Share a Story
Sometimes your horse and you carry something similar – and recognise it in each other. Or you chose, without knowing it, a horse who lives out what you never dared to. Here, we look at how the two of you fit together – and where that fit keeps catching.
She's Reacting to You
Sometimes our own patterns quietly shape a horse’s behavior. Too much worry can make one horse unsure and another pushy – depending on who she is. Here, your horse’s character matters, and we look at what she’s actually responding to in you.
Yes, sometimes it’s a blend of these. And that’s exactly what we untangle together.
WHAT I LOOK FOR
Wild Horses Show Us What “Working” Actually Looks Like.
After years of watching how wild horses live together, I have a baseline for what trust, ease, clear communication, and healthy boundaries really look like between horses – long before we can talk about pressure or dominance.
I bring that same eye to the two of you. On a shared screen, we watch your video together, slow it down, and I show you what I see: what already works between you, where it catches, and what your horse might be trying to say. And where your own story comes into it – gently, and only where it helps.
BETWEEN YOU
A Private Video Conversation About You and Your Horse.
You Send Your Video
You send me short videos of ordinary moments with your horse – nothing you need to prepare for, just the two of you, as you really are. That’s all I need to begin.
Together We Look
We meet and watch your video together. We talk about what’s already working, what your horse may be trying to say, and where your own way of being quietly meets hers.
You Receive
A 30-minute conversation on Zoom, just the two of us. Afterwards, a short written summary of what matters most right now and your next steps – plus one follow-up question.
We schedule our session within seven business days after you send the video.
And of course, nothing you send is ever shared. It stays between us. Always.

You Won’t Leave With Another Method to Memorize.
You’ll leave understanding what’s already strong between you, what your horse is really telling you, and what’s hers, what’s shared, and what’s yours to carry. Not so you can become harder – so you can become clearer. The goal isn’t obedience. It’s a relationship where closeness, boundaries, and safety can live together.
WHO I AM
I Look at the Relationship – Not Just the Behavior.
My work brings together psychology, attachment-informed relationship work, mediation, and years of observing the social lives of wild and domestic horses. I hold a B.Sc. in Psychology and am a Registered Counsellor (BC) with a focus on relationships – in private practice since 2008.
I don’t use dominance language. I don’t believe your horse needs to be controlled or made to “respect” you. And I won’t tell you that everything is your fault, or all in your head. I look at what your horse does, what you do next, and how the relationship moves between you.
This may be right for you if…
You feel connected but something keeps catching · she complies but seems absent, or is slowly shutting down · you keep arriving at the same stuck place · you want to understand her character, and your own part, with curiosity · you care about both connection and safety
This is not the right service if…
You want someone to make her obey · you’re looking for a quick dominance technique · the behaviour puts you or others in immediate danger · she may be in pain – please see a veterinarian first
Online observation can’t replace local support in an unsafe situation, and sudden changes should always be checked with a veterinarian first.
FAQ
What happens after I book
Right after you book, you’ll land on a welcome page with everything you need to begin – simple ways to send me your video, a few gentle questions to answer, and how we’ll find a time to talk. You’ll also get a payment confirmation by email, so you can always find your way back. Nothing is complicated, and there’s no rush – you go at your own pace, and I’ll be there when you’re ready.
What if my horse behaves perfectly while I'm filming?
That tells me just as much as a difficult moment would – sometimes more. So much of what happens between you and your horse lives in the small, ordinary things: how she greets you, how she stands with you, how the two of you move together when nothing dramatic is going on. That’s often where the real story is.
So please don’t wait for something to go wrong. Send me two or three short clips from different, everyday moments – exactly as they are. There’s nothing you need to make happen for the camera, and nothing you need to fix beforehand. However your horse shows up that day is precisely what I’d like to see.
Is this horse training?
No, it’s not about teaching your horse to do something. Here, we look at the deeper questions and patterns that run through your relationship with your horse – what’s happening between the two of you, and what it’s really about.
That’s different from my other offers, and it helps to know which fits you. If you’d simply like to understand wild horse behaviour and how to bring it to your own horse, the Being Herd Library is a lovely place to start. If you’d also like your own questions answered along the way, the Being Herd Program is for you. And if you sense there’s something more personal to look at – between you and your horse, specifically – then this, Between You, is where we do that together.
What if it turns out to be about me?
Then you’ve found something you can actually work with. So many of us reach for firmer methods when something isn’t working – but if what’s happening is really about us, no amount of training will change it. The moment you see that your own themes are being picked up and reflected back by your horse, something opens. That’s not a failure – it’s often a real relief. It usually means you haven’t done anything wrong at all. And it’s one of the most hopeful first steps there is, because the moment you can see something clearly, you can begin to shift it – gently, and at your own pace.
Will my videos remain confidential?
Yes. Nothing you send will ever be shared, shown, or used anywhere without your separate permission. It stays between us. Always.
