Two Worlds.
One Language.
My
Story
Relational Leadership | Evolutionary Psychology | Wild Horses
Where This Began
Wild horses don’t need us to explain them. But if we truly listen, they show us something we’ve almost forgotten – about our horses, our relationships, and ourselves.
I’ve spent years observing wild herds. How they live together, how they communicate, how they make decisions. And then I connected these observations with my background in evolutionary psychology – how humans evolved to do the same.
And here’s what I believe: these two worlds aren’t separate. In many ways, they mirror each other. If our lives had evolved differently, our social structures might look much closer to theirs.
That’s why being among wild horses feels so instinctively right. It reconnects us with something we already know but have lost touch with. Being Herd is built on this understanding. It’s the foundation behind everything I do.
My Search
I’ve always loved horses, but as a teenager, I stopped riding because I couldn’t stand how they were treated. Years later, I returned to the horse world – and while I saw some progress, I was still told I had to be the boss and more dominant. But that’s just not who I am.
So I turned to gentler methods like R+, and that led to a great relationship with my mustang mare, Cinder. She was engaged, curious, and enjoyed being with me. But the moment something slightly scary happened, she fell apart. And honestly? So did I. So I avoided those situations and stuck to what felt safe. 🫣
And I kept searching. Along the way, I tried many approaches: Natural Horsemanship, Ribbleton, Trust Technique, Horsefulness, and more. Some helped, others, not so much. Yet one thing remained: Cinder was reactive whenever the world got unpredictable.
The Shift
Everything changed when I began studying wild horse behavior – first through a three-year certification program with Marc Lubetzki, who spends months each year living among wild herds, and later through my own observations.
I saw how horses build trust, set boundaries, and make decisions through clear signals and reliable relationships. And I recognized something familiar: the same patterns I had studied in human psychology.
That’s when things started to make sense. Not as abstract ideas, but in real moments with my own horses. I could finally see what my own horses had been communicating – and why so many approaches had fallen short: they were working against the innate relational language I was now seeing in wild herds.
From there, I began weaving together these two worlds: the natural rhythms of wild horses with principles from evolutionary psychology, attachment theory, and conflict resolution. And that is how Being Herd was born.

Beyond Behavior
A Video Series on Horse Character · $7
Three horses. Same field. Same afternoon. Three completely different experiences – and I hadn’t done anything differently with any of them.
That question led me to Beyond Behavior – a short video series on horse character through the Five Elements. Six videos, two guides, one meditation. The lens that changes what you see.
The Personal Me
Counselor
A Magic dwells in each Beginning
I’ve moved 21 times, including across continents. My favorite movie is Four Weddings and a Funeral, and my favorite author is Elizabeth George. I love traveling, especially my regular trips to see wild horse herds in the USA and Canada. I can’t wait for my next visit in March/April 2026.
I follow a plant-based diet and see the world through a neurodivergent lens – curious as ever about consciousness, epigenetics, and quantum physics. Learning, for me, is simply a way of being.
